To care for the land that fed me—-Feeds Us
II XIV
In the bloom of spring a tree there stands
Intertwined in a cliff, it’s dwelling there
Overlooking droplets suspended in air
Reaching for heavenly golden hands
In the thicket of trees a deer lies
keeping close watch of its fawn adjacent
Awaiting for the the fog to dissipate
Anticipating greens brushed in sunlight
And sometimes my feet feel so heavy
All the schemes they seem to know
To carry me forward, step by step—
In the soil
To carry me through this world—
Their world.
Passing through I think of how I too
Would like to dwell on a cliff
Sit upon ferns ladened with colors in bloom
To see the fog rise—
To let the sun kiss the ground once again.
With muddy boots, I stop—
Breathe—
The first in a long time.
And turn my back to the cardinal landscape
Not to ignore, to return
to care for the hand that fed me—
Feeds you
