XI: Timeless iv—Yosemite National Park: Upper Yosemite Falls
This original plein air miniature gouache painting of Upper Yosemite Falls captures a classic viewpoint in Yosemite National Park. It is part of 'The Journey,' an ongoing collection of poetry and 600 mini landscapes in National Park locations created while traveling full-time in my vintage 1976 Avion Travelcader.
Timeless
To guest in forest song
Resplendent all-abounding
A melodious whir is heard
In the valley’s surroundings
To stand upon and peer above
white clouds release its veil
Unspooling
Cascading
Trailing in thunderous choir—
Suspended in a timeless tune

FAQ
- Q: Does the painting come with a Certificate of Authenticity?
A: Yes. Every original in every collection is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity, the name of the piece, the date of creation, signature, and the specific National Park or location where the study was conducted.
- Q: Will the colors fade over time?
A: I use professional, artist-grade gouache, acrylic pigments, & charcoal known for their high lightfastness and opacity. To ensure the colors remain as vibrant as the day they were painted, I recommend framing your miniature with protective glass and avoiding humid environments like bathrooms or direct sunlight locations.
- Q: Is the packaging suitable for gifting?
A: Absolutely. Each miniature is treated as a piece of history. The painting (and accompanying poem for The Journey collection) are wrapped in aesthetic materials and presented in a way that is ready for gifting to a fellow hiker, park enthusiast, or collector.
- Q: Do you take commissions for specific National Park locations or other locations?
A: While "The Journey" follows a specific chronological path, I do occasionally open windows for commissions of special vistas, personal park memories, or other requests. Please contact me at lauravanmoorleghem@gmail.com to inquire about my current commission schedule and information
- Q: I have a problem with my order, now what?
A: I take special care in creating, writing, packaging, and shipping my orders. However, I want you to love your artwork. If you have any questions or issues with your order please contact me at lauravanmoorleghem@gmail.com within 7 days of your order being recieved.
- Q: Why choose a 2x3 miniature scale?
A: The 2x3 scale is a deliberate choice for "The Journey." It mirrors the "pocket-sized" nature of a field journal, inviting the viewer to step closer and engage in an intimate, quiet moment with a landscape that is usually viewed as overwhelmingly vast.
- Q: How should I frame a miniature painting?
A: If you choose the 'framed' option, your 2x3 original arrives in a mini gold frame with a brown velvet bow (which is interchangeable with a gold chain for hanging).
However, if you wish to curate the artwork for your own home style, these miniatures are standard 2x3 inches, making them perfect for:
Float Framing: Placing the 2x3 paper between two panes of glass to show the natural edges.
Matted Displays: Using a larger frame with a wide mat to create a dramatic "focal point" on a gallery wall.
*you can even choose fabric or embossed matts
Standard Frame: There's a variety of 2x3 inch frames available for artwork to be displayed in nooks and crannies, part of a gallery, or tiny homes.
